Nico coming to London\u003C\/a\u003E, then I imagine you’ve been living under a rock. Despite launching in London under pretty testing times, it appears to have taken it by storm with a busy schedule and a pretty constant flow of insta pics.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp style=\"text-align: center;\"\u003E\u003Cspan style=\"font-family: arial;\"\u003EThe premise of Six by Nico is simple; ‘experience a brand new six course tasting menu every 6 weeks - each one themed upon a different place or\u0026nbsp; memory, from Chef Nico Simeone.’\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp style=\"text-align: center;\"\u003E\u003Cspan style=\"font-family: arial;\"\u003EPriced at £35 for 6-courses, with the wine pairing sitting at £33, it presents a reasonable mid-week dining experience at a much lower price bracket than your traditional tasting menu.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp style=\"text-align: center;\"\u003E\u003Cspan style=\"font-family: arial;\"\u003EThe venue is super central, located on Charlotte Street in Fitzrovia, which made for an easy journey there. As you enter the process is slick, with everyone being pretty efficient (and covid safe) from the offset. Interior wise it’s nice - pretty simple, nothing too fancy - and it doesn’t present the stuffiness (some) higher brow places can which can sometimes feel intimidating.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp style=\"text-align: center;\"\u003E\u003Cspan style=\"font-family: arial;\"\u003EYou’re presented with the option of vegetarian or meat - but if you have dietary requirements it’s simple to swap out one course, for example they catered for my friend who is pregnant fantastically.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp style=\"text-align: center;\"\u003E\u003Cspan style=\"font-family: arial;\"\u003EWithin 5 minutes of deciding on a menu; the first course arrives. I had expected this - it’s no surprise that the churn of customers needs to be high to offer 6-courses at £35. The first course was\u003Cb\u003E\u003Ci\u003E Lasagne -Crispy Lasagne \/ Ox Cheek Ragu \/ Parmesan Espuma \u003C\/i\u003E\u003C\/b\u003E- one of my favourite courses, it was tasty and, to be honest, a bit of a comfort dish.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp style=\"text-align: center;\"\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cdiv class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"\u003E\u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/-51dGrPbuTpc\/X33oH_kf3EI\/AAAAAAAANIs\/vOnnkow40rYdT2GxMBEXwew_a6njx8KHgCLcBGAsYHQ\/s1280\/lasagne-six-by-nico.jpg\" style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"\u003E\u003Cspan style=\"font-family: arial;\"\u003E\u003Cimg border=\"0\" data-original-height=\"1280\" data-original-width=\"1280\" height=\"640\" src=\"https:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/-51dGrPbuTpc\/X33oH_kf3EI\/AAAAAAAANIs\/vOnnkow40rYdT2GxMBEXwew_a6njx8KHgCLcBGAsYHQ\/w640-h640\/lasagne-six-by-nico.jpg\" width=\"640\" \/\u003E\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/a\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cspan style=\"font-family: arial;\"\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/span\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp style=\"text-align: center;\"\u003E\u003Cspan style=\"font-family: arial;\"\u003EOur second course was fish fingers. As one of my childhood favourites, I was excited for the \u003Ci\u003E\u003Cb\u003EFish Fingers - Salmon Tartare \/ Kohlrabi \/ Lime Gel \/ Pepper Dulse \/ Shaoshing Dressing\u003C\/b\u003E\u003C\/i\u003E - and rightly so. This dish for me was right on the money, providing the light but yet powerful flavours it did. A real stand-out dish.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp style=\"text-align: center;\"\u003E\u003Cspan style=\"font-family: arial;\"\u003EThen we went onto \u003Ci\u003E\u003Cb\u003EEggy Soldiers - Cacklebean Egg \/ Brown Butter \u0026amp; Celeriac Espuma \/ Celeriac Soldier \/ Lovage\u003C\/b\u003E\u003C\/i\u003E - and I’d be doing myself an injustice if I didn’t mention that I dislike eggs. But I tried it, and I didn’t hate it. My friends, much more experienced egg eaters, assured me that it was - in fact - rather tasty.\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp style=\"text-align: center;\"\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cdiv class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"\u003E\u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/--avAcpsuw2o\/X33oNTLHB-I\/AAAAAAAANIw\/BsZHaLu7REkN0JMsmdB8s8VVB1V6VT7qACLcBGAsYHQ\/s1280\/fish-fingers-six-by-nico.jpg\" style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"\u003E\u003Cspan style=\"font-family: arial;\"\u003E\u003Cimg border=\"0\" data-original-height=\"1280\" data-original-width=\"1280\" height=\"640\" src=\"https:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/--avAcpsuw2o\/X33oNTLHB-I\/AAAAAAAANIw\/BsZHaLu7REkN0JMsmdB8s8VVB1V6VT7qACLcBGAsYHQ\/w640-h640\/fish-fingers-six-by-nico.jpg\" width=\"640\" \/\u003E\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/a\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cspan style=\"font-family: arial;\"\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/span\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp style=\"text-align: center;\"\u003E\u003Cspan style=\"font-family: arial;\"\u003EAnother favourite turned tasting menu; \u003Ci\u003E\u003Cb\u003EMac ‘n’ Cheese - Truffle Mac’n’Cheese \/ Cauliflower \/ Aged Cheddar \/ Gherkin Ketchup\u003C\/b\u003E\u003C\/i\u003E. This was a tasty dish - it wasn’t a wow dish, but it was nice. I think for me, I associate macaroni cheese with comfort. With hangovers. With being at home. So there’s no way I could dislike it, but I wasn’t wowed.\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp style=\"text-align: center;\"\u003E\u003Cspan style=\"font-family: arial;\"\u003EThe final savoury course was \u003Ci\u003E\u003Cb\u003EDuck, Duck, Goose! - XO Duck Breast \/ Leg Bonbon \/ Gnocchi \/ Pumpkin \u0026amp; Black Garlic Emulsion\u003C\/b\u003E\u003C\/i\u003E. This was my least favourite course, it was still tasty but the flavours were perhaps mismatched for me. I have a sweet tooth - but ehmeerghad, this appealed to it perfectly. It was light, fresh - but yet so sweet. Of all the dishes, I felt this showed the most potential and I loved every bite...so much in fact I have no pictures of it.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp style=\"text-align: center;\"\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cdiv class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"\u003E\u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/--Xvy5Y9BG5o\/X33oYoLnJNI\/AAAAAAAANJA\/w47YUEYVZKwp6zimEZDkWFebTMJkjRjUgCLcBGAsYHQ\/s1280\/mac-n-cheese-six-by-nico.jpg\" style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"\u003E\u003Cspan style=\"font-family: arial;\"\u003E\u003Cimg border=\"0\" data-original-height=\"1280\" data-original-width=\"1280\" height=\"640\" src=\"https:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/--Xvy5Y9BG5o\/X33oYoLnJNI\/AAAAAAAANJA\/w47YUEYVZKwp6zimEZDkWFebTMJkjRjUgCLcBGAsYHQ\/w640-h640\/mac-n-cheese-six-by-nico.jpg\" width=\"640\" \/\u003E\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/a\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cspan style=\"font-family: arial;\"\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/span\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp style=\"text-align: center;\"\u003E\u003Cspan style=\"font-family: arial;\"\u003ESix by Nico is a perfect example of how to bring tasting menus to the masses. The food is nice, there is obvious skill within the kitchen but it isn’t your fancy 1* restaurant...and it doesn’t need to be because what it does is fit for purpose entirely.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp style=\"text-align: center;\"\u003E\u003Cspan style=\"font-family: arial;\"\u003EIt is, what I would describe, as an entry-level tasting and at an incredibly reasonable price. If you’re frequenting the top Michelin starred places in London (er, jealous) then you’re not going to come away and disclose “it’s the best meal I’ve ever had”, but you’ll no doubt nod to the skill that they do show and how seamlessly they deliver something than can be so complex.\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp style=\"text-align: center;\"\u003E\u003Cspan style=\"font-family: arial;\"\u003ESo give it a try - and see what you think! So I headed to Ceviche as I said a couple of weeks ago, and given I haven't properly experimented with Peruvian food I was slightly hesitant about going there. They opted for\u0026nbsp;Arroz con Pato(a duck dish),\u0026nbsp;Lomo Saltado(a beef dish),\u0026nbsp;Don Ceviche(Seabass dish) and finally\u0026nbsp;Tuna Manu(Tuna, duh). It was very much like a tapas style menu - able to try everything we ordered. The seabass dish was served cold and quite spicy -\u0026nbsp;personally\u0026nbsp;it wasn't for me, but the Italian loved it. The duck won me over, as did the tuna and beef.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/span\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n\u003Cspan style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/span\u003E\n\u003Cspan style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"\u003EThe duck was cooked perfectly. It was crispy on the outside, but full of flavour. Complimented with the dark beer rice. The portion size was also huge - more than enough for two people. The beef was also on the same level as the duck - juicy, slightly spicy but not too much. I was in foodie heaven. Despite my company being\u0026nbsp;mediocre, the food really blew it out of the water for me.
