CAUNIVAL at CAU

8.09.2016

As you all know - I like food. I guess that's a given seeing as I write a food blog, my Instagram is adorned with food photos and my twitter is me talking, or rather tweeting, about food.  Guilteeeeee

SO when invited to an event incorporating a restaurant I love, DJ BBQ whilst also supporting an incredible charity - it was hard to say no.

The diet was temporarily out of the window - a mere 4 hours of binge eating and cocktail drinking was to follow.

St Katherines Dock is one of my all time favourite places in London; it's weird that it's just off one of the busiest roads in London yet barely feels like you're there. Of course you have the views (The Shard, Walkie Talkie, etc) but it just feels as if you're away from it all. It's a 'beaut' location, and the weather couldn't have been better.

Let's start off with the drinks; the CAU-lypso; a delicious blend of rum, Amaretto, passionfruit juice and pineapple juice. It was sweet, fresh and, dangeroulsy, moreish. After a long day - it couldn't have gone down better. It has a slight resemblance to a Pornstar Martini - but without the ridiculously sweet taste. It's incredible, I'd recommend about 8 of these.

Obvs joking, drink responsibly kids...don't drink them like juice.

Okay so onto the food - my favourite part. The man doing the food was DJ BBQ - now I won't lie I hadn't heard of him but apparently he is the king of BBQ's and it very creative. He was manning the BBQ - obviously - and he did good.

The winner for me was the burger; 50% chuck, 20% flank, 20% brisket and 10% aged beef fat supercharged with bone marrow and topped with creamy Monteray Jack cheese sauce.

Oh my god - food goals. I mean I am not being forced to say this but it's the best goddamn burger I've ever had. I'm not supposed  to eat gluten, but for this I was willing to. The burger really is something - I ate more than I should and my run the next day was significantly harder whilst carrying the extra weight of 100 burgers.

Then we move onto the tempura pork belly. When I was younger, two months ago, I used to eat tempura anything; literally anything battered I ate it in bulks. I'd never had tempura pork belly - but now I have, and I can safely say I have a mild/severe addiction to this crispy goodness. Once again, I ate too many and I can't stop thinking about them. I'm like a love-sick puppy, pounding the pavement thinking about the carbs.

Now obviously you're thinking - HOW DO I GET MYSELF SOME OF THIS?

Well you need to get yourself down to one of the many CAU restaurants (find your closest one here) and try their burgers. Not only will you be enjoying a mouthful of delicious burgers, you will also be doing some good because CAU have teamed up with Action Against Hunger to donate £1 per burger to them. So an even better reason to order two, three, four...it's up to you.

Join the CAUnival in your local restaurant now - and definitely, definitely try the CAU-lypso.

* I was invited as a guest of CAU - however as always my opinions remain the same.
