Relaxing, winding down...eventually switching off.

Work full time? Yup me too. Time to properly relax and have down time comes very rarely. Spa days? No time. Chill out days? No time. Unfortunately you have to adjust and make the smaller things mean a little bit more. I find switching off very difficult - even when I had a couple of months off from blogging I was constantly thinking about it, my stats, what to do. Similar to everything else in my life - I always have something I need to do. Unfortunately the reality of it is - if you want an amazing life full of wealth and success you have to work bloody hard for it. This is something which has been drilled into me for a while - something I cannot forget. Even writing this I am thinking of the many things I have on my to-do list...back to the relaxing part. My perfect ways to relax:

Good Music
I am a big music fan when it comes to winding down. I truly believe music can be used for any mood - I have been in the worst moods and been about to be pulled out by a song. For examples, this morning when I was up and out of my warm bed at 5.30am, I wanted nothing more than my bed. Listening to ODESZA immediately gave me the inspiration and motivation to crack on. Washing, cleaning and some pre-work completed by 8.30am. Thank you ODESZA! 

Cold Showers
Yes this is a weird one for most people. Don't get me wrong, hot showers are great. However if you want something to calm you down, bring you back to the real world - cold showers will become your best friends. 

Green tea, camomile tea...tea
Herbal teas are great for me - I love them. They calm me down, relax me and give me the warm fuzzy feeling inside when I want to zone out for a bit. Green tea for me is great in the morning and camomile in the evening, it helps you sleep and calms you down. I would recommend if you struggle sleeping. 

Yes...cliche. I love candles. Candlelit dinners, candlelit baths - anything. Sometimes just chilling in your room with a candle and some chilled music (perhaps try the relaxing piano playlist on Spotify) can be the best thing to help you wind down.

No I don't mean from a kindle, iPad or anything else...I mean an actual book. I am a technology fan, however one thing I will never convert to is a eReader. I love the feeling of turning the pages, getting towards the end of the book - and the smell. You totally cannot get that with an eReader. Switch off your Kindle and pick up a real book! 

 Chilling in bed
When everything else fails, just chilling in bed is the best way. Even if you have to do some work, at least you have the comfort element to help you through it. I know I do most of my blogging, researching etc from my bed when I am around to! 

Also there will be more outfit posts coming within the next week - being mega busy and the absolutely shocking daylight hours doesn't work well!

  1. I've read many times that ending your shower with a short cold splash of water in the shower can be great for you but I don't think I can do a full cold shower lol :( X

  13. Time to unwind and relax is definitely necessary but at times hard to come by! I love aromatherapy scented candles, soothing music and curling up with a good book!
