How To Make Up: Leighton Meester inspired

Hey my lovelies. If any of you follow me on Twitter or know me personally then you will know I am absolutely Gossip Girl crazy - I even bawled my eyes out when it was the season finale - not because it was sad - because it was ending. I really am a huge GG junkie! So I thought I would try and recreate a Leighton Meester/Blair style make up look - as she is my favourite character - and give you the kind of look you could do at home. I am not a make up artist nor anything near, I am actually a complete make up novice if I am honest. I only bought my first MAC item last year in July!

This is one of my favourite looks of hers, I always think her make up look immaculate! I will do it step by step! If anyone wants a video of this tutorial please leave a comment below and I will try and do that for you! So here we go!

This is the look I was trying to recreate. I think Leighton looks amazing here and very glamorous!

Step One: Firstly I started with using Benefit's porefessional pore reducer. If you don't have this, washing your face with cold water works great for reducing pores and is a lot cheaper. After smoothing this completely across my face, I applied my No7 BB cream for oily/normal skin in fair all over my face with my Real Techniques foundation brush - which is amazing by the way. After completely covering my face and blending into my neck, I applied another foundation. I know you should use one really, but my skin has been bad and these two work well together to give an almost flawless look. I applied my Dior Forever foundation in shade 020 Light Beige. This foundation dries Matte which is really good for this look as she doesn't have a great deal of shine to her face. After completely my foundation I used my MAC Studio Finish concealer to cover any blemishes and under my eyes. This concealer just works really well for blemishes and as mentioned before I have been having trouble with my skin! Then lastly for the base of my face - this bit is really long - I used my YSL Touche Eclat down my nose, under my eyes and whisker like on my face to help contour my face. I blended it in with a little darker foundation throughout my face with my Real Techniques brush again.

Step One

Step Two: I used a lot more blusher than I did bronzer with look purely because she doesn't have much sign of tan on her face. So I used my MAC matte bronzer to brush along my jawline with my Real Techniques contour brush. I lightly went across my temples also to give a little bit of colour. Then I used my NARS cream blush on the apples of my cheeks and brought it up towards the top of my ear area with the foundation brush to ensure it was even, I then went over slightly with my fingers. To give a slightly more pink tone, I used a MUA blush over the cheek bone to ensure it followed the look of pink cheeks. I also filled in my eyebrows using the Real Techniques eyebrow brush and a dark brown from a Palette I have but no idea where it is from!

Step Three: In this look of Leighton Meester's she has a lot of eyeliner on, I just used my Miss Sporty liquid liner and my No7 pencil. I suspect it is most likely Gel liner, however I haven't got any yet - is it worth the hype? So for the eye liner, I started going across the lid finely so I could build it up. I built it up on the inner lid and did a cat style flick on the outside. Once I had done that I applied a tiny bit of cream and gold eyeshadow to give a little sparkle.

Step Four: I then just applied my mascara across all my lashes. Firstly starting with Maybelline The Falsies mascara to give volume and then using my No7  Exceptional Definition mascara to make the lashes a lot more separated and elongate them even more.

Step Five: So after completing the rest of my face, I needed to apply the lipstick. I used my MAC Viva Glam lipstick in AA2 - the lady at MAC said this was almost the same as Russian Red and they didn't have that in stock, so I got this instead. I just applied it across my lips, using it twice over to ensure it has full coverage on my lips. Then once I had completed the make up, I styled my hair similar to hers to show off the face. And here is the finished look...

What do you think of this look? Are you a fan of Leighton Meesters make up?

  1. Love this look, you're directions are super helpful. NYX round lipstick in chaos is the perfect red in my opinion which you may like a lot. It's also a lot cheaper than MAC and works just as well.
